Standard Backup in Business Central (Cloud)
 

When using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in the cloud version, all data is automatically backed up.

This backup is fully managed by Microsoft and runs automatically in the background. Data is secured multiple times per day and stored for up to 28 days. In case of errors, unintended changes, or technical issues, the system can be restored to a previous point in time within this period.

 

A restore is always performed as a full system restore. It is therefore not possible to restore individual records, documents, or accounting data separately. Microsoft’s standard backup is primarily intended for operational reliability and quick recovery in case of errors.

How to Create Your Own Backup on Demand?

​

As a supplement to Microsoft’s standard backup, you can use the SystemConnect product BackupConnect from Microsoft Marketplace.

 

BackupConnect is an add-on for Business Central that enables manual or scheduled database exports of the Business Central environment.

 

BCBackupConnect creates a full copy of the database in a standard format (BACPAC) and stores the file in the customer’s own Azure Blob Storage. The export can be performed manually or automatically on a fixed schedule, for example daily, weekly, or monthly.

The purpose of this type of database export is typically:

​

• Long-term data retention beyond Microsoft’s 28-day backup period
   

• The ability to manually download and archive the database
   

• Documentation and compliance, for example in connection with audits
   

• The ability to establish an on-premise version of Business Central based on the exported database, for example for system changes, testing, migration, or fallback scenarios
  
   

The backup files are stored exclusively in the customer’s own Azure environment, and the customer fully controls the retention period, access, and archiving policies.

The price for the module is EUR 10.00 per month.
Billing is done annually in advance for 12 months (EUR 120.00 per year).
